Consciousness is often seen as the highest stage of human existence. But what if it is not the end… but only a transition?
In this episode of the End of… series, we explore the idea that the human mind is not a final form, but a temporary structure — one that may soon be surpassed.
Transhumanism as Religion: End of Mind
Is consciousness really the final stage of human evolution?
For centuries, consciousness has been treated as the highest form of existence.
The defining feature of what it means to be human.
But what if that assumption is wrong?
What if consciousness is not the destination…
but only a phase?
Awareness vs. Self-Awareness
Every living being experiences reality.
A horse feels pain.
It reacts.
It remembers.
But it does not ask:
“What am I?”
This is the fundamental difference.
Consciousness is not just awareness.
It is self-awareness — the ability to observe your own existence.
And this changes everything.
Because the moment consciousness begins to observe itself…
it becomes unstable.
The Moment the Mind Turns on Itself
Human consciousness is unique not because it exists,
but because it questions itself.
We are the only beings that doubt who we are.
This creates tension.
A loop.
A system observing itself from within.
And every system that reaches this point begins to evolve.
Not biologically.
But structurally.
The Illusion of Identity
We believe that we are our thoughts.
But thoughts are not stable.
They change.
They contradict each other.
So what are we?
If identity is based on something unstable,
then identity itself becomes unstable.
And this is where the idea of “self” begins to collapse.
Transhumanism Is Not About Machines
Transhumanism is often misunderstood.
It is not about replacing humans with machines.
It is about removing limitations.
And the biggest limitation is not the body.
It is the mind.
The End of Mind
The human mind was never designed to handle infinity.
It was built for survival.
For fear.
For decision-making.
For short-term thinking.
But now we are entering a reality that goes beyond those limits.
Digital environments.
Artificial intelligence.
Extended cognition.
The mind, as we know it, cannot survive unchanged.
Consciousness Is Just a Phase
We like to believe that consciousness is permanent.
That it defines us.
But evolution has never stopped at any stage.
Not at the body.
Not at language.
Not at intelligence.
So why would it stop at consciousness? What Comes Next?If consciousness is not the final stage…
then something comes after it.
Not the end of awareness.
But the end of human awareness as we understand it.
A new form of perception.
A new way of existing.
Not limited by biology.
Not limited by identity.
Not limited by the mind.
Final Thought
We are not losing consciousness.
We are outgrowing it.
And just like every stage before…
we will only understand it
when it is already behind us.
